More Tasmanians in work than ever before

Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

Tasmanian jobs growth is leading the country and there are more people working in the State than ever before, thanks to the Tasmanian Liberal Government continuing to take our economy from strength to strength.

Released today, new ABS data for December 2022 shows our State's workforce hitting new highs - with a record 290,300 Tasmanians employed.

This includes the highest number of women employed in the State at 139,800.

This represents the equal strongest job growth around the nation at 0.4 per cent, well ahead of the national average of 0.2 per cent.

The data also shows a record high participation rate of 62.7 per cent, and the lowest unemployment rate in the State's history of 3.8 per cent.

Further, Premier Jeremy Rockliff said more Tasmanians are now in full time work than ever before, with 186,000 in full time employment.

"These figures show that our plan to build a strong economy and deliver jobs growth for Tasmania is working," he said.

"We have seen more than 55,200 more jobs for Tasmanians since we came to office in 2014, including more than 10,800 since this time last year alone.

"It hasn't been easy – we've had to work hard to implement our policies despite constant negative opposition from Labor and the Greens.

"Our plan for Tasmania will continue to see our State breaking records as we continue to support Tasmanians, our businesses, and our community and deliver on our plan to secure Tasmania's future."
