More than 300 arrested in South East as part of Operation Master

More than 300 people have been arrested in an operation targeting people wanted on warrants in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs.

Operation Master commenced in early March and saw officers knocking on the doors of people with outstanding warrants in the Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia Police Service Areas.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dean Grande from the Divisional Response Unit said many of those arrested were wanted on warrants for failing to appear at court, as well as offences including aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, robbery and theft.

"As part of Operation Master, police have been particularly focused on arresting those that were wanted in relation to high harm, high impact crimes," D/S/Sgt Grande said.

"We know this type of offending has a significant impact on victims, as well as the broader community.

"That's why we've been working hard to hold offenders to account and ensure all matters are appropriately dealt with through the courts.

"Recidivist offenders are also a key focus for us with police regularly arresting people who are wanted on a number of outstanding warrants.

For example, on 30 April, the DRU arrested a 29-year old woman in Noble Park who had a number of outstanding warrants. The woman was charged with theft of motor vehicle, fail to appear on bail and contravening a community corrections order and has been remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates' Court at a later date.

"We are committed to keeping the community safe and will keep making arrests on a daily basis as Operation Masters continues.

"Anyone who has an outstanding matter should expect a visit from one of their local police officers."
