More than 60 applications received for Improving Playing Field small grants stream

Jane Howlett,Minister for Sport and Recreation

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to increasing participation in sports by supporting the improvement of facilities around the State.

In the recent State Budget, our Government has increased the funding available through the Improving the Playing Field 2021-22 Grants Program from $5 million to $10 million.

Grants were offered across two streams: the small grants stream for grants between $25,000 and $50,000; and the large grants stream for grants between $50,000 and $500,000.

Applications for the small grants stream closed on 6 September 2021, and I'm pleased to announce that 62 applications were received by Tasmanian sporting clubs and organisations requesting over $2 million in funding.

The Department of Communities, Sport and Recreation will assess the applications received, with outcomes to be advised by the end of November 2021.

Applications for the large grants stream remain open until Monday 25 October 2021.

Our Government wants more Tasmanians to get involved in physical activity, no matter what their age, their circumstance or their background.
