More than 80 finalists make way to State's top training awards

All the finalists successful in gaining a coveted place in this year's Queensland Training Awards state final have been announced today.

Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman said the Queensland Training Awards shines a spotlight on the excellence of our State's top achievers in training

"Queensland is home to so many high achievers in training and incredibly hard working teachers and supportive employers," Ms Fentiman said.

"I am pleased to announce that nine worthy finalists in three direct entry categories will join 75 regional winners at the Queensland Training Awards State Gala Dinner in September."

"The three direct entry categories are Small and Large Training Providers of the Year and the Premier's Industry Collaboration Award.

"This year's Premier's Industry Collaboration Award finalists work in a range of industry sectors, including childcare, education, construction, health and tourism.

"One of the Small Training Provider of the Year finalists, Connect 'n' Grow Pty Ltd, delivers health and community service qualifications to senior secondary school students preparing qualified and job-ready health and social service employees that meet industry needs.

"In the Large Training Provider of the Year category, TAFE Queensland will be defending the title they have won for the past four years, with CQUniversity Australia and Australian Trade Training College also being recognised for their great work and for being category finalists over the past few years.

"The Queensland Training Awards shine a spotlight on some fantastic people, committed employers and training providers, and innovative training initiatives and collaborations that demonstrate the great results vocational education and training (VET) is achieving.

"Congratulations to all of the finalists and I look forward to seeing you in Brisbane next month."

The Queensland Training Awards State Gala Dinner will be held in Brisbane on 14 September. Tickets are available from qta.gld.gov.au
