HMAS Moreton has recognised the exemplary service and dedication of several personnel during an honours and awards ceremony, with Commodore Flotillas Commodore Simon Howard presenting the awards as guest of honour.

Commanding Officer Moreton Commander Rosemarie Apikotoa opened the proceedings by welcoming all attendees.

"Thank you to everyone in attendance today, especially families who have travelled long distances to be here, and our special guest Commodore Howard," she said.

Able Seaman Christine Crane received the Australian Operational Service Medal - Indo-Pacific for her service contribution across multiple operations, including Operation Lilia.

Leading Seaman Jonathan Muir was presented the Australian Operational Service Medal - Border Protection in recognition of his service during Operation Resolute across three consecutive years.

"Border protection is our Government's number one priority, working closely with our counterparts in Australian Border Force," Commodore Howard said.

"This is extremely important, so congratulations."

Commander Mark Lucking was honoured with the National Emergency Medal with Clasp - Bushfires 19-20 for his service during Operation Bushfire Assist.

With a distinguished career spanning nearly 30 years, he holds multiple commendations and international awards.

Able Seaman Maddison Reid earned her Silver Service Medallion, having served on key operations including Manitou and Saville.

'This amount of sacrifice, devotion, dedication and loyalty is fantastic, and I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to recognise these achievements.'

Meanwhile, Able Seaman Harley Ahern was recognised with an Australia Day Medallion for his multifaceted and dedicated service while posted to HMAS Moreton.

"It has been an honour and privilege to have had the opportunity to serve in the ADF for the last 22 years," Able Seaman Ahern said.

"The Moreton command team and the ship's company are outstanding, very professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. I hope I am here for a long time."

Commander Colin McMaster was presented the Federation Star, and Commander Terrence Garside his Second Federation Star, marking decades of exceptional service.

Both have held command positions and represented Australia in joint operations and international exchanges.

"Combined, these awards represent 85 years of service," Commodore Howard said.

"This amount of sacrifice, devotion, dedication and loyalty is fantastic, and I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to recognise these achievements."

The awards underscored the professionalism, courage and dedication of Navy's men and women in service of their nation.
