Morning crime spree at Prospect, South Australia

A man has been arrested after a daylight crime spree at Prospect this morning.

About 8.40am, Wednesday 30 October, patrols were called to Edgeworth Street after reports a man had stolen a handbag from a car. The driver of the car had pulled up to grab something from her home. In the short time she left the car a man stole her handbag while her two kids were in the car.

The victim gave a good description to police who located the alleged offender at a Main North Road Shopping Centre at Sefton Park. The man was in possession of a number of stolen goods.

Following an investigation it will be alleged the man had broken into two other homes. About 8am he broke into an Athol Avenue home where a mobile phone, wallet and watch was stolen. The occupants were home at the time of the break-in. Then another break-in at an Arthur Street house where the occupants were also home.

The 35-year-old man from Devon Park was charged with three counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft, illegal interference, unlawful possession, going equipped and carrying an offensive weapon. He is expected to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
