Mornington Peninsula Shire has been recognised by Tennis Victoria winning the Supporting Tennis – Local Government Award at the 2019 Victorian Tennis Awards.

Tennis Victoria handed out a record 14 awards during the event held on Friday 18 October.

Shire Mayor David Gill said the Shire has a strong relationship with Tennis Victoria.

"We encourage a healthy, active community and tennis is a great way to keep moving and make friends.

"The Shire's collaboration with Tennis Victoria helps ensure the best facilities are available on the Mornington Peninsula.

"Over the past year, officers have completed a prize winning, detailed tennis facility audit and this will help us prioritise a plan to progressively improve tennis facilities across the Peninsula", concluded Cr Gill.

Additionally, the Shire provides sponsorship and promotion of the Mornington Peninsula Tennis International, held within the region each year, as part of the Australian Pro Tour.
