MotoGP Roars Into Phillip Island

VIC Premier

Victoria's major events calendar continues to command pole position, as motorsports fans from around the world descend on Phillip Island for regional Australia's biggest international sporting event, the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos said the 2025 race, held from 17-19 October at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, will feature some of the world's best riders.

Backed by the Allan Labor Government, it will bring tens of thousands of visitors to the Bass Coast, packing out hotels, restaurants and bars ─ supporting local businesses.

The event will help drive regional Victoria's tourism and major events sector. Tourism Research Australia data released last month showed that in the quarter from April to June 2025, Victorians spent $1.8 billion during the 9.8 million nights they enjoyed visiting regional Victoria.

This is in addition to the $832 million international visitors spent in Victoria's regions in the past financial year.

The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix adds to regional Victoria's blockbuster calendar of major events in the coming months including NBL games in Bendigo, AFLW in Ballarat, Good Charlotte in Bendigo and Lenny Kravitz live in Mildura.

These major events contribute to Victoria's record $43.7 billion visitor economy which supports more than 288,000 jobs.
