Motorbike Crash Claims Rider's Life

A man has died in hospital following a motorbike crash on the Mid North Coast last week.

On Friday 17 April 2026, emergency services were called to Comboyne Road, Byabarra, following reports of a crash.

At the scene, police were told a motorbike had crashed into the rear of another bike, causing the rider to fall.

The rider – a man aged 70 – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital.

The rider of the other motorbike – a man aged 66 – was not injured; however, was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and inquiries into the incident commenced by the Crash Investigation Unit.

Police have since been advised that the 70-year-old man died in hospital on Tuesday 21 April 2026.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
