Motorbike seized after high range speeding incident

A 22 year old Scamander learner driver has had his motorbike seized after he was caught riding it at more than 50kmh over the speed limit.

At 3:15pm Saturday 15 August, members from Northern Road and Public Order Services detected a black Harley Davidson Motorcycle travelling North on the Midland Highway at Symmons Plains.

The motorcycle rider was a 22 year old man from Scamander and the holder of Novice L1 licence.

L1 Novice licence holders are speed restricted to 80Kmh. He was detected travelling at 134km.

He was also not displaying his L plates.

He was fined $1075, issued 6 demerit points and a fixed disqualification period of 4 months.

His motorcycle was impounded for 28 days.
