Motorcyclist dies after Blue Mountains crash, NSW

A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle crash in the Blue Mountains today, NSW Police say.

About 11.30am (Sunday 15 April 2018), emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway, near Tableland Road, at Wentworth Falls, following reports of a car and motorcycle crash.

On arrival, officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command found the motorcyclist, a man believed to be aged in his 70s, in a critical condition.

He was treated onsite but died at the scene.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and urge anyone with information or dash cam vision to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The Great Western Highway is closed in both directions and diversions are in place. Heavy vehicles are urged to avoid the area. Visit www.livetraffic.com for more information.
