Motorcyclist fatality - Channel Highway in Margate, TAS

Sadly, a 36 year old motorcyclist has died following a single vehicle crash near Margate last night, Tasmania Police say.

Police were alerted to a motor cycle crash on Channel Highway approximately 150 metres south of the junction of Derwent Avenue south of Margate about 10pm last night.

Whilst negotiating a sweeping right hand curve riding south, the motor cycle veered off the bitumen road surface onto a gravel and grass verge impacting shrubbery and trees.

Unfortunately attempts to resuscitate the rider at the crash scene were to no avail.

Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or observed a black Harley Davidson motor cycle travelling southbound on the Channel Highway prior to the incident.
