More than 200 artists, music industry professionals, venue operators, festival organisers and creative industry leaders will gather in Mount Gambier from 28 to 30 October 2026 for the Regional and Remote Music Summit, bringing delegates from across Australia together to explore the future of music in regional communities.
Delivered by MusicSA in partnership with City of Mount Gambier, the summit will place the city at the centre of national conversations about artist development, regional touring, audience growth and the role music plays in vibrant, connected communities.
The summit reflects several years of collaboration between MusicSA, Council and the local music community to strengthen Mount Gambier's music sector, create opportunities for artists, venues and audiences, and support the city's growing role as a destination for regional touring.
City of Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin said Council's involvement in the summit is part of a broader commitment to responding to community aspirations for a stronger and more connected local music industry.
"Our community has consistently told us that music performance is important to the identity, vibrancy and liveability of Mount Gambier, and that feedback has helped shape Council's approach," Mayor Martin said.
Supporting the local music sector extends beyond staging events, with Council working alongside MusicSA and the local music community in recent years to strengthen relationships, networks, skills and opportunities for artists, venues and audiences.
"Through our partnership with MusicSA and collaboration with the local music community, we've strengthened connections, created opportunities and built momentum for the sector. Hosting the Regional and Remote Music Summit gives us an opportunity to showcase that progress, while continuing to learn, share ideas and build relationships that support the future of live music in our city," Mayor Martin said.
