Mount Macedon crowned Top Tiny Tourism Town 2022

The village of Mount Macedon has been announced the inaugural winner of the Tiny Town category at the Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards 2022 held at the RACV Healesville Country Club and Resort on Wednesday 6 July.

Mount Macedon was recognised for its fantastic nature-based experiences including Macedon Regional Park and nearby Hanging Rock that can be enjoyed year-round.

Macedon Ranges Shire Council Mayor, Cr Jennifer Anderson said the win was fantastic news for local tourism and hospitality businesses who have been working hard to re-build after being impacted by the pandemic and 2021 storm events.

"Recognition like this peaks the interest of people to come and visit the region to see why it is so special. This will give a welcome boost to our local economy. I encourage everyone to come and visit, and see why it has been crowned the Victorian Top Tiny Tourism Town. There is so much to see and do and with every season being so different it is worth a return trip to experience them all," she said.

The Top Tourism Town Awards recognise and reward Victorian towns that demonstrate a strong commitment to tourism, offer an excellent visitor experience, and show strong collaboration with tourism operators, local businesses and the community.

Andrew Towner, President Macedon Ranges Accommodation Association said it is a great honour for Mount Macedon to be named as Victoria's inaugural Top Tiny Tourism Town.

"The award recognises the amazing natural beauty of our region and the hard work of our local businesses, community, and Council to create exceptional experiences for our visitors. We are excited to proceed to the National Awards and look forward to the results later this year," he said.

Mount Macedon will now go on to represent the state at the national awards where it has the opportunity to be crowned as Australia's Top Tiny Tourism Town.
