The third and final stage of the upgrade of Mullumbimby Road starts on Monday 23 February.
The work will be done between the Kings Creek bridge and James Street, including around the Manns Road intersection, and involve heavy patching of the existing road surface.
The heavy patching will take around two weeks to do and the team will work at least one Saturday.
There will be short delays for drivers, but these should be minimal because staff are currently building temporary side lanes which will allow traffic to generally move through the work site, albeit at slower speeds.
"The project has been challenging on a lot of different levels and for it to be nearly finished is wonderful news for the community," Phil Holloway, Director Infrastructure Services, said.
"My sincere thanks to residents, businesses and visitors, for their patience and understanding while we have been working on this project – we are almost there," Mr Holloway said
The upgrade of Mullumbimby Road is a major project that is funded by the NSW and Federal Governments, and Council, to improve road safety and drainage and rebuild flood-damaged sections of the road.
