Multiple suspicious car fires in Bankstown

Police from Bankstown Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding multiple car fires in Bankstown, early this morning.

About 12.30am (Monday 7 January 2019) emergency services were called to a carpark on the Hume Highway, near Meredith Street, following reports an Audi, a Toyota Corolla, and a Mazda CX were well alight.

Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze; however, two cars were completely destroyed. The Mazda CX sustained minor rear damage.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were alerted and established a crime scene.

As inquiries into the incident continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to help them.

He is described as being a 20-year-old man, of athletic build, with dark hair, and wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are treating the incident as suspicious.
