Police have charged a 22-year-old Hermit Park man who allegedly had possession of a knife in public at Mundingburra on Sunday, 27 September.
Officers from the Townsville Tactical Crime Squad were performing Jack's Law scanning activities at a licensed venue on Ross River Road around 3.40am when the man was allegedly found to have a knife in his pocket.
The weapon was seized by police before the man attempted to run from officers.
He was arrested and has been charged with one count each of possession of a knife in a public place, serious assault of police officer, and contravene requirement of police officer.
He has also been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle in relation to the reported theft of a grey Isuzu D-Max utility from a residence on Aplin Street, Townsville on Sunday, 20 September.
The vehicle was located at Pimlico on 21 September.
The man is due to reappear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 12 October.
