At about 11.20 pm on Saturday 3 December police were called to Thornton Street, Findon after reports of an incident at an address.
Police located an 85-year-old woman deceased in the home.
Detectives from Western District, Forensic Response Section and Major Crime Investigation Branch attended the scene and are treating the incident as a murder.
The 91- year-old husband of the woman man was arrested at the scene and is expected to be charged later with murder.
The investigation is in its early stages.
