Murder at Reynella East

Police have arrested a man following a suspicious death at Reynella East late last night.

About 9.40pm on Sunday 25 December, police and emergency services were called to a house in Braes Close after reports that a man had been stabbed.

When police arrived, they located the body of a 71-year-old man in the house.

Officers from Major Crime Investigation Branch, Southern District CIB and Forensic officers attended the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following an investigation, a 45-year-old from the address was arrested and charged with murder. He has been refused bail and will appear in Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Wednesday 28 December.

Police would like to reassure the community that this is not a random incident with both parties known to each other.
