Murder charge after stabbing of teen - Coffs Clarence

A 17-year-old has been charged with murder after an investigation by Coffs/Clarence Police District into the stabbing of a teenage boy.

Emergency services were called to Pacific Street at Corindi Beach, 26km north of Coffs Harbour, shortly after 5.40pm (Sunday 13 August 2023), and found a 16-year-old boy suffering a stab wound to his thigh.

Police rendered first aid until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and took the boy to Coffs Harbour Health Campus; however, he died shortly after.

A crime scene was established and investigations commenced under Strike Force Cored, assisted by detectives from State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.

About 3.30am today (Monday 14 August 2023), a 17-year-old boy attended Coffs Harbour Police Station.

There he was interviewed before being charged with murder, assault causing death and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Monday 14 August 2023).
