Detectives have charged a man with murder following an incident on Palm Island yesterday afternoon, Queensland Police say.
Officers were called to an address on Farm Road at around 4:50pm following reports a man had been stabbed in the neck.
Emergency services attended and a 52-year-old man was transported to the Palm Island Hospital for treatment.
He was subsequently transported to Townsville Base Hospital where he was pronounced deceased around 8:45pm.
A 19-year-old man, who was known to the victim, has been charged with murder.
He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court later today (January 2).
