Museum Of Riverina Prepares To Strut Its STUFF

The Museum of the Riverina is opening its archives with the upcoming exhibition STUFF: 100 Wild, Weird and Wonderful Objects from the Museum of the Riverina's collection - a peek into Wagga Wagga's rich and curious history via a set of 100 selected artefacts.

The exhibition will be open from Thursday 5 March 2026 and officially launched at 4pm on Saturday 7 March at the Museum's Historic Council Chambers site.

It will remain on display at the Historic Chambers until 2 August.

Items include beloved wedding dresses, old photographs, and a charmingly quirky selection of household and everyday items, many of which have been tinkered with and repurposed in a variety of fascinating ways.

Regional Museums Officer and the exhibitions lead curator Sam Leah will be on hand to speak at the launch event.

"STUFF has been such a joyful, eye-opening exhibition to put together," Ms Leah said.

"The collection of artefacts we've chosen tells so many interesting, honest and very real stories about life in Wagga Wagga as it has unfolded over the decades."

"Some items are clever, funny and deeply sentimental; others are moving and not always comfortable - together they help shine a new and different light on this part of the world."

Ms Leah said that visitors to the exhibition can expect to do more than chuckle and reminisce, with some pieces also included to encourage meaningful reflection.

"Through STUFF, the Museum seeks to provide a wonderfully unique insight into our city's history, and the lives of its people across several generations.

"It genuinely has something for everyone, and we encourage the community to come along."

WONDERFULLY UNIQUE: The MoR's upcoming exhibition 'STUFF' brings together a curated array of fascinating objects - including standout pieces of rare vintage clothing - that together, promise an experience to spark curiosity and deliver delight.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of three workshops, focussing on caring for precious objects, conserving photographs and telling meaningful stories with photographs.

The Museum of the Riverina Historic Council Chambers site is located on the corner of Morrow and Baylis streets in the city's CBD, while its sister site is located at the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens.
