NAIDOC Week events in Horsham 30 June

This year NAIDOC Week runs from Sunday 3 July to Sunday 10 July. The theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! and everyone is encouraged to get along to help support events taking place in our local municipality.

Goolum Goolum will kick off the week with its annual art exhibition, this year drawings its title from the NAIDOC theme.

Curators Tanisha Lovett and Toni Martin are proud to present the exhibition Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up which features a diverse range of both established and emerging artists.

The exhibition is a showcase of the talent, ideas and cultural heritage of the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk community.

The exhibition opens on Sunday 3 July and runs through NAIDOC week and beyond to 28 August at Horsham Regional Art Gallery.

NAIDOC Week will close with Horsham Magistrates' Court NAIDOC event.

Working Together – Courts/Justice/Community will run at the Horsham Showgrounds Maydale Pavilion from 1 – 5pm on Sunday 10 Julyl

This free event will feature a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, Yarning Circle: Marngrook story reading by author Aunty Titta Seacombe, traditional games and mini disco.

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
