National Anti-Corruption Commission Legislation Committee Report

I thank all the members of the Joint Select Committee on the National Anti-Corruption Commission for their work examining this important legislation.

I am delighted the Committee made up of Government, Opposition and cross bench members from both Houses has delivered a unanimous report.

This is the Parliament at its finest, with Members and Senators coming together to find common ground and offer a constructive way forward.

In doing so, they have respected the mandate given by the Australian people on May 21 to the Albanese Government to establish a powerful, transparent and independent National Anti-Corruption Commission.

The Government will now carefully consider this report and its recommendations ahead of the resumption of debate on the NACC bill in the next session of Parliament.

We will now work towards passage of legislation this year to establish a National Anti-Corruption Commission with real power and authority.
