Each day, unpaid carers provide essential emotional, physical and practical support to family members and friends who are ageing, living with disability, mental illness or chronic health conditions.
They are the parents who stay up through the night, the partners who manage appointments and medication, the neighbours and friends who step in when someone needs a hand.
National Carers Week is an opportunity to recognise their extraordinary contribution and shine a light on the vital role carers play across our state.
Without their commitment, many Victorians would struggle to live independently or remain connected to their communities.
Carers often balance their responsibilities alongside work, study and family life, facing challenges that can be physically and emotionally demanding.
Shadow Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers, Tim Bull, said this week shines a light on the selflessness of carers.
"This week is about saying thank you," Mr Bull said.
"Thank you to every carer who gives their time, energy and heart to improving the lives of others.
"Whether you're caring for a parent, child, partner, friend or neighbour, your efforts make a lasting difference every single day."
