National Tree Day Planting This Weekend

Council's National Tree Day community planting event in Alexandra has been rescheduled to Sunday 10 August, from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm at Old Josephine Cutting.

Originally postponed due to wet weather, the event promises a great opportunity to get your hands dirty for a good cause. Volunteers will help plant a mix of native trees, shrubs, grasses and groundcovers to enhance biodiversity and create a more bird-friendly landscape.

  • Location: The planting site is partway up Old Josephine Cutting, with entry from the road beside the Alexandra Showgrounds (top end of Grant Street).
  • What to bring: Sturdy boots, gloves, and a raincoat (just in case!).
  • What's provided: All planting tools and equipment.

Please note, the site is not wheelchair accessible and may not be suitable for very young children.

As part of our 'Nominate Your Favourite Street Tree' competition, we're extending the prize draw! Anyone who comes along and participates in the planting event on Sunday will be entered into the running to win one of three $40 grocery vouchers.

Even if you didn't get around to nominating a favourite street tree, you can still take part – by planting one instead!

We'd love to see you there – it's a great way to contribute to your local environment and connect with others in your community.
