On Wednesday (28 January), NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte joined an Industry Day during NATO's Counter-Uncrewed Autonomous Systems (C-UAS) Week at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.
The event brought together over 100 representatives from NATO, Allied nations, and industry to discuss how best to counter the dangers posed by drones. It follows Allies' decision, at the meeting of NATO Defence Ministers in October 2025, to expand NATO's counter-drone capabilities.
"Drones are here to stay. Growing in quantity, growing in quality", the Secretary General warned. "And if there is one clear lesson we are learning from Ukraine … and particularly from recent incursions into Allied airspace, it's that we need to be able to respond to this threat and we must be prepared."
