NATO's Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana reaffirmed the Atlantic Alliance's steadfast support to Ukraine, during his meeting with the country's First Deputy Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, today (22 February 2023), at NATO Headquarters.

Deputy Secretary General Geoana and First Deputy Prime Minister Svyrydenko exchanged views on the priorities of Ukraine's economic recovery and reconstruction, on the country's efforts to ensure the most effective use of national and donors' resources, and on the strong support provided by the International Community at this critical juncture for Ukraine. They also discussed efforts to assist Ukraine develop a transparent, efficient and secure procurement policy, including in the national defence and security sector.

The meeting took place one day after NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, EU High Representative Josep Borrell and Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba agreed to convene a meeting of NATO, EU and Ukrainian procurement experts to ensure Ukraine continues to receive the weapons it needs to uphold its right to self-defence enshrined in the UN Charter, in response to Russia's illegal war of aggression.
