NDIS Overhaul: New Planning Framework by Mid-2026

We're making changes to the NDIS to make it fairer, easier to navigate, and more flexible to support participants to work towards their goals.

The NDIA is investing in more responsive, stronger systems and fairer processes to ensure the NDIS is sustainable for generations to come, continues to meet demand and deliver lasting impact.

These reforms, shaped with the disability community, are about protecting what works and improving what matters so that the NDIS can support the people who need it today, and for generations to come.

As part of these changes, we had planned to introduce the new way of planning in September 2025, but we have listened to advice from the disability community that more time will improve the delivery of these reforms and minimise disruption.

We are now aiming to introduce changes to planning from mid-2026. The changes will be gradual. We will keep listening and learning so we can improve.
