Neighbourhood House Week in Nillumbik

From making your own terrarium to taking part in a free exercise class, there are plenty of exciting activities happening this Neighbourhood House Week at our Living & Learning Nillumbik neighbourhood houses.

Situated in Diamond Creek, Eltham and Panton Hill, each house will offer different opportunities to have fun and be creative. There's even a chance for kids to learn new skills at our cupcake decorating workshops.

Held from 9–15 May, Neighbourhood House Week is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the role of Neighbourhood Houses and Living & Learning Centres in local communities.

A common thread that runs through every one of Australia's 1000+ centres is the inclusive nature: anyone and everyone is welcome, and members of the community are encouraged to help in the house's organisation, management and use.

Mayor Frances Eyre said Neighbourhood House Week is a great opportunity to get to know other community members and try new things.

"The theme of this year's Neighbourhood House Week is 'Building resilience and bringing people together'," Cr Eyre said.

"It's fitting not just because we're emerging from COVID-19, but because Neighbourhood Houses have long been spaces for people to come together, support one another and learn new things.

"In Nillumbik, the focus of our Living & Learning centres is 'share, learn, connect', and that's evident in the events on offer for Neighbourhood House Week," she said.

A range of free and low-cost activities will be held across the three Living & Learning Nillumbik Neighbourhood Houses during Neighbourhood House Week. Please visit the website to register your attendance in advance.
