Netherlands Pledges EUR 34m to UNDP Global Aid

The Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has reaffirmed its strong partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through a significant contribution of EUR 34 million to core resources. This contribution - part of the 2023-2025 multi-year agreement between UNDP and the Netherlands - comes at a time when global cooperation is more crucial than ever. The contribution will empower UNDP to accelerate sustainable development efforts, ensuring that resources reach the areas where they are most urgently needed.

Since 2022, UNDP's combined core and non-core funding has expanded access to essential services for nearly 160 million people and provided sustainable energy solutions to 177 million. Additionally, UNDP has enabled 816 million voters to participate in elections and facilitated over $867 billion in investments aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Core funding allows UNDP to respond effectively to urgent crises, such as the recent earthquake in Myanmar and the impact of conflicts in areas including Gaza, Syria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In Ukraine, this partnership is driving tangible progress through demining operations, family reunification initiatives, and veteran support programmes - building resilience in communities affected by conflict.

Together with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, UNDP is looking forward to collaboratively enhancing efforts in key priority areas of mutual interest: strengthening governance and the rule of law, safeguarding livelihoods, supporting communities to prepare for and recover from shocks and crises and enable displaced peoples' safe return, advancing sustainable water management, and engaging private sector partners to accelerate SDG progress.

UNDP looks forward to continuing the close collaboration with the Netherlands and our shared mission for a more equitable and prosperous world, where no one is left behind.
