New ad campaign highlights Morrison's massive education cuts

A new ad campaign from the Australian Education Union show that the Morrison Government's $14 billion in total cuts to public schools will leave 99% of public schools below the minimum level of funding required to meet the educational needs of children.

The new ad campaign will make education funding a central campaign issue as the Morrison Government prepares to hand down another budget geared towards handing cash to the big end of town at the expense of struggling families.

Fair funding would mean smaller class sizes, more one-on-one support, additional teachers and support staff, more support for children with disability or behavioural needs. The savage cuts made to education by the Morrison Government has meant lower quality education for millions of children.

As noted by ACTU President Michele O'Neil:

"Education is essential and the cuts this Government have made have been savage and destructive.

"Every child should have access to the best possible education we can give them. The cuts that the Morrison Government has made to education have been in order to pay for their massive corporate tax cuts.

"We support the AEU in this campaign, and the principle that every child, no matter where they live and regardless of their background should have access to a high quality education.

"We have to the change the rules to ensure fair funding for all schools and all students."
