More South Australians wanting to live the great Australian dream of owning a home will now have the opportunity, with new affordable housing for sale just 15 minutes from the CBD.
Five, new two-storey, two-bedroom townhouses located in Broadview are on the market – the first homes under the Marshall Liberal Government's $400 million commitment to deliver 1000 new affordable homes by 2025.
The homes are for sale between $408,000 and $418,000 under the State's Affordable Homes Program.
Minister for Human Services Michelle Lensink said the Marshall Liberal Govenrment was committed to building and selling more affordable homes – a key pillar of the new $550 million housing and homelessness strategy.
"We want to give more South Australians the opportunity to own their own home in our great state," said Minister Lensink.
"The State Government's Affordable Homes Program enables low-and-middle income South Australians to get their foot in the door of home ownership so they're not priced out of the market by sky-high auctions and investors – and instead, homes are sold at a fixed price.
"Over the next five years we've committed more than $400 million to deliver more than 1000 new affordable homes across South Australia– and these Broadview homes are just the start.
"Not only are we providing much-needed affordable homes for South Australians, their construction is providing a steady pipe-line of work for our building and construction industry and supporting jobs.
"With interest rates at record lows and a range of Government grants and initiatives available for home buyers, there has been no better time to buy real estate than now."
Eligibility criteria to buy a home through the Affordable Homes Program includes income and asset limits and buyers must not currently own a property and plan to live in their new home.

Homes sold under the AFP retail for no more than $419,750.
