New AFL Comedy Warming Hearts And Changing Minds On Regional Roadshow

New AFL Comedy Warming Hearts And Changing Minds On Regional RoadshowOpening today, The Merger tells the hilarious story of a country town, first divided on settling refugees, uniting to save their local footy club.

Following a hugely positive reception at the Melbourne International Film Festival, CinefestOZ and premieres in Wagga Wagga and Canberra, The Merger opens today in cinemas across Australia - including the regional communities it celebrates - with some hailing it as a cult-classic successor to The Castle. With a limited first release of one week, the film opens on more screens in early September.

Damian Callinan believes warm-hearted comedy is key to celebrating how our towns are welcoming families from all works of life who, in turn, are revitalising the Australian communities that need it most. "When you bother to listen and learn from what our refugees have actually been through, wanting to turn them away isn’t an option," said Callinan.

Tickets to premieres and screenings can be purchased on the film’s official website: http://themergerfilm.com/
