Following a hugely positive reception at the Melbourne International Film Festival, CinefestOZ and premieres in Wagga Wagga and Canberra, The Merger opens today in cinemas across Australia - including the regional communities it celebrates - with some hailing it as a cult-classic successor to The Castle. With a limited first release of one week, the film opens on more screens in early September.
Damian Callinan believes warm-hearted comedy is key to celebrating how our towns are welcoming families from all works of life who, in turn, are revitalising the Australian communities that need it most.
