New Alice Springs Street Art Project to Boost Local Jobs

The Territory Labor Government has partnered with RedHot Arts Central Australia to deliver a new Alice Springs Street Art Project.

Blank facades of buildings and roller shutter doors will betransformed into art canvasses as part of the new street art project that willbreathe life into the Alice Springs CBD.

The project will create up to 20 local jobs forartists and works will commence on the first blank canvasses in the comingmonths. At least 20 building facades in the Alice Springs CBD will be paintedby 31 July 2020.

This street art project is in addition to the Alice SpringsStreet Art Festival which will commence in June 2020.

The new collection of street art is part theTerritory Labor Governments $20 million Revitalising Alice initiative toreinvigorate and create a safer and more attractive Alice Springs for localsand visitors to enjoy.

The street art project was one of the initiativesidentified through the Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED)audit. The audit recommended including art work in public spaces and usingsurfaces such as blank walls and roller doors as canvasses, to make publicspaces more welcoming.
