New Appointment To Racing Victoria Board

VIC Premier

Racing Victoria's Board of Directors has been strengthened with the appointment of well-known business leader and successful racing owner Paul Guerra.

Minister for Racing Martin Pakula said Mr Guerra will bring significant skills in business and racing industry experience to the role, providing the Board valuable insight and expertise in decision making.

He has more than 25 years' experience as a senior business leader and is currently the Chief Executive of Victoria's peak employer group the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In this role he has worked closely with the Victorian Government during the pandemic to support and advocate for business.

He has previously led the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria, was Chair of Queen Victoria Market and held senior positions at United Health Group, Motorola and Vodafone.

Mr Guerra also has a long-standing involvement in the racing industry as an owner.

The appointment of Mr Guerra comes after the Minister for Racing received a report from an Advisory Panel of industry representatives, established under the Racing Victoria constitution.

His appointment fills a vacant Board position following the departure of Rowan Craigie, after completing his four-year appointment last September.

Racing Victoria is the governing body of thoroughbred horse racing in Victoria. For further information on the Board go to racingvictoria.com.au

As stated by Minister for Racing Martin Pakula

"Paul will bring important skills to the Racing Victoria Board and I congratulate him on his appointment for the next four years."

"His ability to work with government and stakeholders through the pandemic is testament to his business and advocacy skills, and along with his passion for thoroughbred racing, I know he will serve the Board well."

"Paul has been a strong advocate for the business community during his tenure as CEO of VCCI and his collaborative approach and experience will help serve all sectors of the Victorian thoroughbred industry."

As stated by Racing Victoria Chair Brian Kruger

"We're delighted to welcome Paul on to the Board and believe his extensive business skills and relationships will be great assets to Racing Victoria and the broader industry."
