The Crisafulli Government has announced the appointment of two esteemed senior legal figures to the Board of Legal Aid Queensland (LAQ) and the Queensland Law Reform Commission.

Mr Darren Robinson and Dr Bridget Cullen each bring a wealth of experience in law and decision making to LAQ and QLRC respectively.

Currently the sole Director of a North Queensland criminal law practice, Salt Legal, Mr Darren Robinson has spent three decades working in investigations through to legal advocacy, firstly as a Queensland Police Officer for twenty years and later as a solicitor.

Mr Robinson has been actively involved in the community legal sector since graduating with a Bachelor of Laws and his admission as a solicitor in 2014.

He has regularly appeared in various jurisdictions across Queensland and will be an asset to the Board, having spent his years in the law working with regional and Indigenous clients in North Queensland.

Mr Robinson brings a strong regional perspective to the Board after delivering crucial legal services across Queensland to those most in need.

Dr Bridget Cullen has many years of senior decision-making experience including at QCAT and most recently as a Senior Member at the Commonwealth Administrative Review Tribunal.

Called to the Bar in 2000, Dr Cullen has taught Evidence Law at Griffith University for more than 25 years and spent more than one decade in private practice.

Having written the university course, Dr Cullen brings deep academic expertise relevant to the current work of the QLRC.

In 2019, Dr Cullen was the recipient of the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland "Lawyer of the Year Award" and in 2025 received a Parent's Special Commendation award from Autism Queensland.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity Deb Frecklington congratulated the two appointees on their new roles approved by the Governor in Council yesterday.

"Both the QLRC and LAQ are vital institutions in the justice portfolio that work tirelessly to meet the diverse needs of both disadvantaged Queenslanders and our state's large statute book," the Attorney-General said.

"I am pleased these organisation's Boards will now benefit from the depth of experience and expertise that Dr Cullen and Mr Robinson bring, and I thank them for their commitment to public service."

"I am confident their skills and commitment will be invaluable in helping ensure the legal needs of the community continue to be met into the future."

The appointees commence their three-year terms on 6 March 2026.
