New board members will drive efforts to preserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and heritage of England's National Parks and Landscapes
A series of appointments to England's National Park Authorities and National Landscape Conservation Boards have been made.
National Park Authority (NPA) board members are responsible for ensuring that the Authority furthers the statutory purposes of the Park - specifically, to preserve and enhance its natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage, as well as to provide opportunities for the public to understand and enjoy their unique attributes.
17 members have been appointed for four-year terms, ending 30 June 2029:
Broads Authority: Gail Harris, Heather Hilburn, Curig Johnston and Tim Munday
Dartmoor NPA: Julia Galbenu
Lake District NPA: Mark Hatton
New Forest NPA: Ella Mason, Adarsh Parekh and James Wylor-Owen
Northumberland NPA: Jared Bowers, Mohammed Dhalech, Gillian Hall and Ian Kille
Peak District: Hannah Corran and Amanda Martin
South Downs NPA: Lara Sonola-Omitowoju and Soraya Abdel-Hadi (Soraya's term will begin in 2026 and run to 30 June 2030)
Members of National Landscape Conservation Boards are responsible for ensuring that the Conservation Board advances the statutory purposes set out in the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 - specifically, to conserve and improve the natural beauty of their designated area. 11 members have been appointed for three-year terms, ending 30 June 2028:
Chilterns National Landscape: Baljit Dhillon, Catherine Moncrieff, Jennifer Morgan, Matthew Stanton, Nicola Thomas and Juliet Vickery
Cotswolds National Landscape: Andrea Graham, Jon Grantham, Nick Martell-Bundock, Hannah McDonnell and Anisa Saleh
Appointments are made in accordance with the Governance Code on Public Appointments. All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.
