From 1 November 2025, the Australian Government will expand eligibility for existing Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) bulk billing incentives to all Medicare-eligible patients and implement the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program (BBPIP).
Practices that register for BBPIP and bulk bill all eligible services will receive an additional quarterly 12.5% incentive payment on every $1 of MBS benefit paid from eligible services, split evenly between the GP and the practice.
Today the new Bulk Billing Incentives Calculator has launched to help practice managers and GPs estimate the financial benefits of adopting a fully bulk billing model. The calculator uses MBS information about BBPIP MBS eligible services to provide practice managers and GPs with tailored payment estimates based on their:
- location
- billing model
- consultation types.
This new calculator supports decision-making by comparing different patient billing scenarios. Practice managers (and equivalent) can now also express their interest in BBPIP from today to receive:
- updates via email leading up to the program launch, including how to register for BBPIP.
- early access to Medicare Bulk Billing Practice signage to display in their practice promoting their decision to fully bulk bill their patients.
