New bus to deliver 200 weekly services for Caloundra South

Residents in the booming Sunshine Coast community of Baringa will have more than 200 weekly bus services at their doorstep when the new route '606' bus begins operating from March 25.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the Palaszczuk Government was committed to delivering public transport for the Sunshine Coast, and would now introduce a new hourly service for community in the Caloundra South Priority Development Area.

"The new bus service will introduce 200 weekly trips to connect residents in Baringa with the greater Caloundra South area, Caloundra West and Caloundra," Mr Bailey said.

During the week, buses will start running from 6am through until last service at 9pm, and weekend services will start at 8am and finish at 6pm.

"I'm pleased to announce new bus stops are also being installed along the new route, making it easier for customers to catch public transport.

"The Palaszczuk Government has listened to community feedback and is providing a new service for this growing community."

To coincide with the new bus route, one service on Saturday and Sunday will be added the existing route '603' bus, which will also be optimised to provide a more reliable route for Little Mountain residents to Caloundra.

Customers who regularly catch the route '603' bus are advised to check the TransLink website to check the new route.

The new '606' bus service comes as part of an agreement between the Palaszczuk Government, Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) and Caloundra South Priority Development Area developer, Stockland.

Full details on service changes and the new bus route will be available in the TransLink online journey planner.
