New Cabinet to hit ground running

Peter Gutwein,Premier

The new Cabinet under a re-elected majority Liberal Government has been sworn in, officially beginning our historic third term in Government.

Tasmanians have voted for stability and certainty, at a time when our State needs it most, and this Cabinet is the team that will deliver the clear plan we laid out during the election.

It provides the right mix of experience, passion and energy to secure Tasmania's future, and continue the gains we have made in recent years in all areas of the State.

It will also consolidate important portfolio responsibilities under single Ministers to ensure they can be approached from a whole of system perspective, better delivering the essential services that Tasmanians expect.

The new Cabinet will officially meet for the first time later this afternoon, and we will get straight to work to deliver our plan, with an initial focus on our first 100 days.

I want to thank Tasmanians for the faith they have shown in me and my team, and I want to say once again, we will not let you down.

There is no doubt that our best days are ahead of us and we are strongly committed to the task at hand as we work hard to secure Tasmania's future.
