New Caretakers Welcomed To Tara Lagoon Parklands

Audrey and Barry Henry have been appointed as the new caretakers of Tara Lagoon Parklands, bringing fresh enthusiasm and a strong commitment to one of the Western Downs' most popular destinations for travellers and visitors.

The new appointment marks an exciting new season for the parklands, with the caretakers set to bring enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to ensure visitors continue to enjoy a welcoming and enjoyable experience from September 2026.

Council spokesperson for Tourism and Recreational Spaces Councillor Kaye Maguire said as long time Western Downs residents with extensive local knowledge, Council is delighted to welcome Audrey and Barry to the role as caretakers at the Tara Lagoon Parklands.

"We look forward to working alongside them to support the ongoing success of the parklands." Cr Maguire said.

"Tara Lagoon Parklands is a much-loved destination that attracts visitors travelling through our region, with well-kept campgrounds, facilities, and amenities.

"Located just outside Tara, the lagoon offers a peaceful place for visitors to connect with nature and enjoy the picturesque surrounds."

The new Tara Lagoon Parklands caretaker Audrey Henry said they are excited to be moving to the friendly town of Tara and taking on the new role as caretakers.

"We have a passion for sharing the region's unique attractions and are actively involved in local clubs and events," Mrs Henry said.

"Barry and I are eager to promote events that will highlight the Tara Lagoon Parklands and support local initiatives.

"We look forward to being active in the community and making the lagoon our home."

Visitors and campers can enjoy a range of facilities at Tara Lagoon Parklands, including camping areas, powered and unpowered sites, picnic facilities, and easy access to the walking track and natural beauty of the lagoon.
