The City of Casey is proud to announce that local car dealership Booran Motors has come on board as the TAC L2P Program Vehicle Sponsor, providing two new Chery Tigo 4 Hybrid vehicles.
The TAC L2P Program supports learner drivers aged 16 to 23, who do not have access to a supervising driver or a suitable vehicle, to gain the supervised driving experience they need to work towards their probationary licence.
Council has proudly delivered the L2P Program for the past 17 years, in partnership with the Department of Transport and Planning and the Transport Accident Commission, supporting hundreds of local learners to build their confidence and skills.
Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said, "We're incredibly grateful to Booran Motors for getting behind this program. Their support means more local young people can get the driving experience they need to feel safe and confident on the road, which is good for everyone in our community."
Cr Koomen also acknowledged the vital role of volunteer mentors and encouraged more community members to get involved.
"The success of the Casey TAC L2P Program also wouldn't be possible without our dedicated volunteer driver mentors. Their time, patience and commitment make a real difference in young people's lives," he said.
"We warmly encourage anyone who can spare a few hours to consider becoming a volunteer and helping a learner driver take an important step towards independence."
The City of Casey is currently welcoming new volunteer drivers to join the program. Volunteers receive full training and support, and no teaching experience is required.
