Saving water and slashing bills just got easier, with the Finocchiaro CLP Government launching the Central Australia Irrigation User Guide.
The Central Australia Irrigation User Guide, developed through the Living Water Smart program, provides practical, locally tailored advice to help residents and businesses use water wisely in the arid climate of central Australia.
Minister for Essential Services Steve Edgington said the guide is being launched this Saturday, 18 April, from 8.30am at the East Side Community Garden in Alice Springs.
"In Central Australia, every drop counts. This new Irrigation User Guide provides clear, practical advice to help households and businesses in the centre use water more efficiently while keeping their gardens healthy.
"Lower water use means lower water bills for Territorians wherever you live, including in Central Australia, and it also strengthens security for our future water supply.
"Water is at the heart of our unique Territory lifestyle - from backyard pools to gardens - so cutting waste and fixing leaks is essential," Mr Edgington said.
"Cutting unnecessary water means more water for our communities and future development."
In Central Australia, evaporation exceeds rainfall by more than tenfold, making irrigation efficiency critical.
Gardens can account for up to 60% of household water use. Small changes to irrigation practices can deliver significant water and money savings.
