Police have laid a further charge following the death of man in a crash at Tura Beach in June 2025.
About 7.30pm on Saturday 21 June 2025, emergency services were called to Sapphire Coast Drive, Tura Beach, following reports of a vehicle rollover.
On arrival, officers attached to South Coast Police District were told a white sedan allegedly lost control and departed the roadway before it has rolled on the grass.
The driver - a 33-year-old man - and his passenger - a 46-year-old man- were both taken to Bega Hospital in a critical condition however the older man could not be revived.
The younger man was subjected to a mandatory testing before he was transferred to Canberra Hospital for further treatment.
A crime scene was established and officers from Crash Investigation Unit were called to commence an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
About 12.10pm on Wednesday 27 August 2025, the driver was arrested at Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death - PCA, drive with high range PCA, and negligent driving (occasioning death).
Following inquiries, the man was charged with manslaughter today, Saturday 31 January 2026
He remains on conditional bail to appear before Bega Local Court on Tuesday 10 February 2026.
