Today I announce the appointment of Stuart Rees as Australia's next Consul-General and Trade and Investment Commissioner in Houston, United States of America.
Mr Rees most recently led the Australian Trade and Investment Commission's (Austrade's) work across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
He has considerable international experience, having served more than eight years in Trade and Investment Commissioner roles in Bangkok, New Delhi and Mumbai.
Mr Rees has previously led the Southeast Asia Deal Teams for Austrade, a joint initiative with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Export Finance Australia to grow outbound investment from Australia to Southeast Asia.
He joined Austrade after an earlier career in finance and agribusiness.
Mr Rees' appointment will further strengthen Australia and the USA's enduring relationship, and strong economic, trade and investment ties.
