The appointment of Ms Sue Grau as the new Convenor of the Tasmanian Forests and Forest Products Network (TFFPN) has been welcomed by the Tasmanian Liberal Government.
Acting Minister for Resources, Jeremy Rockliff, said Ms Grau's appointment represents a new chapter for TFFPN following the retirement of its inaugural Convenor, Ms Therese Taylor.
"Ms Grau is a well-known Tasmanian community leader and advocate, having most recently led industry peak body Salmon Tasmania and we welcome her to her new role in helping support and promote Tasmania's forestry sector," Acting Minister Rockliff said.
"Tasmania's well-managed, sustainable and job creating forest industry is worth more than $1.2 billion annually to the State's economy and supports more than 5700 direct and indirect jobs, underpinning many of our regional communities.
"TFFPN plays a key role in the sector through providing a platform for greater connection, coordination and communication, and their membership represents the breadth of the sector, including growers, contractors and processors.
"Recently, TFFPN delivered the forest sector's first ever Diversity Action Plan, supported with $300,000 from the Tasmanian Liberal Government, and will be hosting the industry's night-of-nights, the Tasmanian Timber Awards, in Launceston this Friday."
The Tasmanian Government congratulates Ms Grau on her appointment and also acknowledges the outstanding contribution made by outgoing Convenor Ms Therese Taylor during her five years in the role.
