New date for Jindabyne Pool reopening

Additional building defects identified as the pool roof replacement works were being completed – and the consequences of ongoing nationwide supply and trade labour shortages – have required the reopening date for the fully renovated and refreshed Jindabyne Pool to be delayed to Friday 22 September 2023.

Council recognises the inconvenience that these revisions to the timetable for these renovations cause. When work began to address the structural faults in the roof of the building, there was no indication of the extent of the problems that were to be uncovered as work progressed.

In addition, a factory fire at a key supplier led to the need to acquire the required parts from a new source. This meant that we would not be able to operate the facility while we were waiting on the materials needed.

As much as we would like to reopen the pool sooner, the safety of our community must come first. In addition to safety concerns, by addressing all problems with the building now, there will be less maintenance and fewer closures in future.

Council appreciates the community's understanding and patience, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the renewed and restored Jindabyne Pool in September this year.
