New draft Community Participation plan up for comment

Orange City Council is reviewing the way it engages with the community on planning and assessment matters.

The council has placed a new draft Community Engagement Plan on exhibition for community comment.

The Plan is a strategic document that will set the tone for how community participation and engagement will be carried out in the environmental and land-use planning framework of the Orange Local Government Area.

Parts of the existing Development Control Plan 2004 that relate to exhibition of development applications will be superseded.

The attachment to Council's Strategic Policy No 24 known as Declaration of Planning and Development Assessment Procedures and Protocols will also need to be updated in order to align with the changes. Other small changes to administration and delegation procedures have been proposed.

The draft Plan and associated documents may be inspected at the Customer Service Counter of the Civic Centre (ground floor), 135 Byng Street, Orange during normal office hours; and online on this page.

Any person may, during the period from Friday, 13 September to Friday, 11 October 2019, make written submission on the draft Plan to Council.

Submissions close at 5pm on Friday, 11 October 2019.

If you wish to make a submission, please quote "Draft Community Participation Plan" in your correspondence. If your submission includes objections to the exhibited material, the grounds of objection must be specified.

Information about making a submission can be found at: www.orange.nsw.gov.au/making-a-submission. All submissions will be evaluated and reported to Council following the exhibition period. When available, both the report and submissions may be viewed by any other persons with an interest in the draft Plan.
