New flexible bus for Melton South

Vic Department of Transport

Residents in Melbourne's west will be able to access on-demand bus services to connect them directly to railway stations, local shopping centres and schools.

Following recent success in other suburbs across Melbourne, FlexiRide is expanding into Melton South.

FlexiRide services do not have a fixed route. Passengers will be able to book a seat via the FlexiRide Melton South app or phone, be directed to their closest bus stop - either a physical or appropriate alternative location - and be picked up and transported to dedicated hubs.

Four new buses will connect passengers to key destination hubs such as Cobblebank Station, Melton Station, Woodgrove Shopping Centre, Melton Bus Interchange, schools in Melton South and Thornhill Park.

The FlexiRide Melton South app provides users with real-time information, so passengers know exactly when their service is arriving.

The extension of FlexiRide follows trials in Rowville, and through Lilydale, Mooroolbark, and Croydon.

FlexiRide in Melton South will launch on 12 December with services operating from 6am to 9.30pm on weekdays, 7am to 9.30pm on Saturdays and 8am to 9.30pm on Sundays and public holidays.

FlexiRide is an initiative of Victoria's Bus Plan, improving the state's bus network to meet demand, improve accessibility and performance, and deliver better value for money.
